Why have therapy?
People decide to have therapy for many reasons. You may want to talk about a specific issue such as anxiety, or a relationship ending; or you may feel frustrated or angry about a situation and might want to explore your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes people find themselves repeating certain behaviour and want to find new ways to deal with life but they are not sure how to change, or may be scared of doing things differently. Therapy can be a very effective way to help you talk about what is happening and to work out how you would like to be.
How does it work?
We work together to explore the reasons you have come for therapy, we will work at your pace and, if you choose to, will set goals that help you to make changes that you would like to make.
I offer online counselling and psychotherapy and outdoor therapy.
I can provide short term therapy which is usually between six and eight weeks or longer term therapy if it is appropriate for you.
It is really important to find the right therapist for you so I offer a free 30 minute appointment for us to decide if we can work together, further sessions are £50 per hour.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling tends to look at what is happening now and helps you to find ways to manage your situation and symptoms. Psychotherapy tends to help you explore the reasons why things are happening and can help you to find new ways of thinking about yourself and other people that you can use in the future. I use a combination of counselling and psychotherapy techniques and I will adapt what we do to meet your needs and circumstances.
What is Outdoor Therapy?
Exercise in green spaces has been proven to have a positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.
I offer therapy sessions in an outdoor setting, this combines the benefits of therapy with the benefits of being outside. Therapy outside can feel less intimidating than sitting face to face in an office. Connecting with nature and moving outside can help us to reconnect with ourselves. Being outside can help us to explore our relationships and problems in a different way. It can help us to get a different perspective on the difficulties we may be facing so that we can understand what is happening for us and explore our options for the future.
Please contact me if you would like to know more about outdoor therapy or to arrange an appointment.

What is Transactional Analysis?
Transactional Analysis (TA) is a theory of personality which can be used for personal growth. TA practitioners believe that:
TA uses theories of child development to help us to work out why you have developed patterns of thinking and feeling and how these patterns have influenced your behaviour and the way you relate to other people. Children develop strategies to protect themselves and we can carry these strategies into adult life without realising that we have new skills and resources and could do things differently now that we are grown up.
You do not have to learn the TA theories to benefit from therapy, they are tools that we use to help us understand what is happening. I will share theories with you if you are interested and if this will help you to move forwards in your life.
- everyone has value;
- people make decisions about themselves, other people and the world; and
- these decisions can be changed so that we can learn to alter unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.
